چکیده

For the successful commercialization of PEM fuel cells for portable power and transportation applications, there is a strong need to lower the amount of water-gas shift catalyst used within fuel processor for H2 production/purification. While most recent studies have improved the current understanding of water-gas shift catalysis, especially regarding structural-property relationships and catalytic mechanism, a highly active and stable catalyst has remained elusive. With the advent of combinatorial approaches, however, this situation is improving.

Water-gas Shift Reaction over Ceria-promoted Pt catalysts

Introduction The fuel processor in which hydrocarbon fuels can be converted into hydrogen has recently attracted much attention as a result of the advancement in the fuel cell technology. In a fuel processor, the water-gas shift (WGS) reaction plays a crucial role in the transformation of CO, a well-known poisonous gas to electrode of fuel cell, into hydrogen through reaction with steam. In WGS...

Significant Improvement in Activity and Stability of Pt/TiO2 Catalyst for Water Gas Shift Reaction Via Controlling the Amount of Na Addition

Na promoted Pt/TiO2 catalysts have been studied under high severity, near equilibrium, conditions for use as a single stage WGS catalyst. Addition of 3 wt% Na to a 1 wt% Pt/TiO2 catalyst has been found to improve water gas shift activity significantly compared to Pt/TiO2, Pt/CeO2, and Pt–Re/TiO2 catalysts. This catalyst is stable when the reaction temperature is higher than 250 C. Deactivation ...

Inorganic Complex Precursor: Preparation of Cu-Mn/SiO2 Mixed Oxide Nanocatalyst for Low-Temperature Water-Gas Shift Reaction

The present study examined the effect of three methods of preparation on the properties and catalytic performance of Cu-Mn/SiO2 catalysts for the water gas shift reaction (WGSR). Impregnation and coprecipitation and the new approach of thermal decomposition of [Cu(H2O)6][Mn(dipic)2].2H2O/SiO2 inorganic precursor complex were used for the synthesis of the silica-supported copper-manganese mixed ...

Exploring the Catalytic Activity of Zirconia, Zirconia Supported Metals and Metal Oxides for Oxidation of Phenol

Catalytic oxidation/degradation of phenol with molecular oxygen in aqueous medium by Zirconia, zirconia supported metals and metal oxides at low temperature were studied in a three necked batch reactor. The catalysts prepared were characterized by modern techniques like XRD, SEM and EDX. The activities of different catalysts for the oxidation of phenol in aqueous medium were found to be in the ...

A Review on Preferential Oxidation of Carbon Monoxide in Hydrogen Rich Gases

In this review, recent works on the preferential oxidation of carbon monoxide in hydrogen rich gases for fuel cell applications are summarized. H2 is used as a fuel for polymer-electrolyte membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). It is produced by reforming of natural gas or liquid fuels followed by water gas shift reaction. The produced gas consists of H2, CO, and CO2. In which CO content is around 1%, whi...
